Active RFID Fixed Readers

Active RFID readers detect and decode transmitted signals from Active RFID tags, and support Ethernet, POE, Serial, WiFi, Wiegand, RS-232, RS-422 and wireless mesh connectivity. Active RFID readers support a wide range of antennas with ranges from a few inches to thousands of feet. Active RFID readers continuously monitor RFID tags within its adjustable range of 9 cm to over 50 meters with standard active RFID readers/antennas. The readers are small, consume very little power and do not emit any radiation and adjacent readers don’t interfere with each other.

The flagship Active RFID reader, relative to cost and performance, is a serial reader that can be installed daisy-chained to additional readers or spoke-and-wheel to network. Specialized RFID readers are designed to optimize gate operations and first-responder tracking, with additional features based on corresponding requirements.

Active RFID readers provide an accurate and real-time ability to detect, track and control personnel, assets and vehicles/motorized equipment. Active RFID readers can be installed with battery backup to provide hours of operation, even in case of power failure. Active RFID reader standard features include:

• Adjustable read range from approximately 1’ to 600’, and support for antennas with 5,000’+ detection ranges.

• Includes RS422 multi-drop connection in serial network mode.

• Outputs Wiegand 26/32 bit for direct connection to Access Control Systems and serial RS-232/422 for customized implementations, and includes adjustable Wiegand multi-tag buffering.

• Supports RJ-45 network/computer ports.

• Reader status indication LEDs.

• Plug-in toolkit for field programming and adjustments.

• Simultaneous multiple tag read support.

• Secure encrypted transmission between tags and readers.

• A wide range of omni-directional and linear directional antennas supported.

• Configurable for automatic gate access control and operations.

• Configurable for tracking vehicles, assets and first responders.
