Muster Point Tablet PCs and Phones

An organization’s mustering supervisors can utilize tablet PCs and Smartphones to muster personnel. Modern tablets and phones support manual mustering, bar code scan or RFID scan. Tablets and phones can be utilized in stand-alone mode and can sync real-time with other mustering tablets/phones or networked databases via WiFi or GSM communications. By syncing devices peer-to-peer, comprehensive mustering data and reporting is available on each device, versus each device being an ‘island’ of data that is not seen or computational by peer devices.

Signals carrying voice, text, and digital data are transmitted via radio waves from one device to another. In the case of cellular networks, the data is transmitted not to a central hub in a small network of devices (as it is with Wi-Fi) or even directly from device to device (as it is with Bluetooth), but through a global network of transmitters and receivers.

Android or iOS personnel mustering software resides on the tablet or phone. Mustering supervisors can query the database on the device to validate personnel at muster points, or, can automate mustering by scanning personnel identification card bar code or RFID chip.

First responders can utilize tablets and phones peer-to-peer with devices utilized by an organization’s mustering supervisors. Tablet/phone software provides full capabilities equivalent to software on a PC or laptop, including the ability to produce muster reports and even overlay muster data on mapping software of the facility/grounds and/or broader geographic areas.
