RFID Facility Doorways

Whereas vehicle travel lanes / gates provide an excellent data source for personnel / visitor identification and mustering, utilizing data from vehicle gates does not account for personnel that are out-of-building and on-grounds versus having actually exited the property.

Installing RFID technology at facility doorways provides the additional data points = ‘in building’ and ‘on grounds’ to compliment data point = ‘offsite’. At each doorway, dual reader/antenna kits are installed to identify personnel and visitors at facility doorways AND their direction-of-travel. Having dual antenna positions at doorways ensures that the SmartTraxx PA software is updated with both the door at which a person was identified and the direction they went through the door (INTO facility or OUT of facility).

For organizations requiring more granular data relative to RFID doorways, RFID antennas can be installed at any doorway within a facility, providing the additional data point = ‘where in the facility is the person’. The more granular the ‘personnel location data’ is available to First Responders enables the first responders to quickly pinpoint the locations of persons needing rescue or accountability.

SmartTraxx can also import data from in-building access control systems to provide additional personnel / visitor location data.
